Across the world, there is growing momentum to address the environmental effects of mining so that land and water can be safely returned to a beneficial end use like open space, wildlife habitat, agriculture, residential or commercial development. Add the expanding global demand for strategic and rare earth elements and it is easy to see why the cleantech ecosystem is overlapping with the mining sector with startups developing new technologies and innovative solutions.
Telluride Venture Network (TVN) has teamed up with Newmont Corporation, and Mountain Studies Institute (MSI) to offer our third Mining Reclamation & Clean Water Bootcamp. Our Bootcamp is open to companies addressing all parts of reclamation, water treatment, monitoring, remote sensing and communication, and economic cost recovery through secondary products, recovery of metals, and/or repurposing of byproducts. Additionally, they will receive high-impact mentoring, strategic coaching, and opportunities for networking with industry experts and investors.
For alumni, we will coordinate opportunities to work with mining companies and/or landowners to test technology in the field. Interested companies should be prepared to make a future trip to Colorado to gather data and conduct testing.
This is a fully remote program for startups with priority given to companies based in Colorado. Content will address specific challenges for mining reclamation technologies including navigating regulation, conducting field tests and pilots, as well as funding and building the team. Bringing these highly specified companies together is an opportunity to learn from and connect with like-minded entrepreneurs facing similar challenges. There will also be specific networking for women in mining reclamation and inspirational stories from other founders.
