Ouray Silver Mine Tour

Date: 09/19/2022 - 09/30/2022

Program description:

Across the world, there is growing momentum to address the environmental effects of mining so that land and water can be safely returned to a beneficial end use like open space, wildlife habitat, agriculture, residential or commercial development. Add the expanding global demand for strategic and rare earth elements and it is easy to see why the cleantech ecosystem is overlapping with the mining sector with startups developing new technologies and innovative solutions.

Telluride Venture Network (TVN) has teamed up with Newmont Corporation, and Mountain Studies Institute (MSI) to offer our third Mining Reclamation & Clean Water Bootcamp.  Our Bootcamp is open to companies addressing all parts of reclamation, water treatment, monitoring, remote sensing and communication, and economic cost recovery through secondary products, recovery of metals, and/or repurpose of byproducts. During the Bootcamp, founders will attend the San Juan Mining and Reclamation Conference in Ouray. Additionally, they will receive high-impact mentoring, strategic coaching, and opportunities for networking with industry experts and investors. Rounding out the program will be a variety of area legacy and active mine tours.

For alumni, we will coordinate opportunities to work with mining companies and/or landowners to test technology in the field. Interested companies should be prepared to make a trip to Colorado to gather data and conduct testing.

Program design:

This is a two-week hybrid program for startups with priority given to companies based in Colorado. The first week (Sept 20 – Sept 23) will be fully remote and the second week (Sept 26 – Sept 30) will be in-person in Ouray and Telluride. The cohort will meet in Ouray on Sept 26th, enjoy an investor dinner on September 27th, and attend and present at the San Juan Mining and Reclamation Conference on September 29th – 30th. Mine tours will take place in Telluride and other local areas. Housing will be provided if needed for entrepreneurs outside of the Telluride region.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis through August 20th, 2022

Company participation fee:

$1,000 per company, this includes housing for 1 founder in Telluride during the second week of the program.
